VP of Therapy

Kera Passante, MS, LPC, NCC

Kera has been a therapist since 2017, working with teens, families and adults, one-on-one and in groups. She’s warm, steady and trauma-informed, and her sessions are practical: what you talk about becomes something you can use the next time a craving or a hard day hits.

She’s trained in experiential therapy, mindfulness and trauma care, and leads therapy at Sunflower. Outside of sessions you’ll usually find her outdoors: she’s thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail and biked more than 5,400 miles coast to coast.

No. Some people want to stop drinking, and others want to drink less. Your therapist starts with your goal and helps you work toward it at your own pace.

Your first visit is a 30-minute video consultation. You’ll talk about what’s going on, what you want to change, and how therapy can help.

Yes, and many people do both. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings while therapy works on triggers, habits and what’s underneath. Medication starts with a short online intake, and a licensed clinician decides whether it’s right for you.

Seizures, hallucinations, shakes or severe nausea when you stop drinking can be dangerous and may need a medically supervised detox first. Online therapy isn’t the right place to start, and we’ll point you to in-person care. If it’s happening now, call 911.

Yes. Sessions happen by secure video from wherever you’re comfortable, and your records are protected under HIPAA and federal rules for substance use treatment records.
