  1. You: I started naltrexone 4 days ago and feel a little queasy in the mornings. Is that normal?
  2. Care team: Thanks for letting us know. Mild nausea is one of the most common side effects in the first week or two, and it usually fades as your body adjusts. Taking your dose with food can help.
  3. Care team: If it hasn’t eased in a week, message us and we’ll go over your options, including adjusting your dose.
  4. You: That’s a relief. Thank you!

Why it matters

A licensed therapist, not just a host

Peer-led meetings help a lot of people, and we’re glad they exist. But anyone can host a meeting. Ours are led by a licensed professional counselor: real clinical training, real accountability, and skills that hold up when cravings hit.

  • Training

With a licensed therapist: A master’s degree in counseling, supervised clinical training and a state licensing exam

With an untrained host: No clinical training required

  • Accountability

With a licensed therapist: Licensed by the state, and held to a professional code of ethics and confidentiality

With an untrained host: No license, and no one overseeing the group

  • What you learn

With a licensed therapist: Evidence-based skills, like CBT tools for cravings and relapse prevention

With an untrained host: Mostly the host’s own experience

  • When it gets hard

With a licensed therapist: Trained to recognize a crisis and help you get the right care

With an untrained host: Not trained to spot a crisis

Support in the moment

When a craving hits at 2am, waiting isn’t an option

Some programs rely on health coaches, who can take up to 48 hours to write back. Coaches can be a real help, but cravings don’t keep office hours. Sam answers in seconds, any time, and your care team is a message away for anything medical.
