Common questions

Things people ask before they sign up

Does varenicline work for smoking, vaping, and pouches?

For smoking, yes. Varenicline has been prescribed in the US as an aid to quitting smoking since 2006, and large independent reviews rank it among the most effective quit aids available (Livingstone-Banks et al., Cochrane Review, 2023). For vaping, an early randomized trial is promising (Caponnetto et al., BMC Medicine, 2023). For nicotine pouches, research is still limited, so your provider will decide whether it’s a good fit for you. Your prescription is written by a licensed provider and filled by a US pharmacy.

Do I have to quit the day I start?

No. Using nicotine until your planned quit date is expected. Your provider works with you to choose a quit date and a plan that fits you, and your care team follows up along the way.

What are the side effects of varenicline?

Common side effects include nausea, trouble sleeping, unusual or vivid dreams, constipation, gas, and vomiting. Some people have had changes in mood, behavior, or thinking while taking varenicline. Stop taking it and contact your provider right away if you or your family notice these. Message your care team anytime if side effects bother you. See the Important Safety Information below.

How does the $89/month work?

You pay $20 for the intake and provider review. If a licensed provider approves you, your treatment is $89/month, billed quarterly ($267 every 3 months), and your medication ships in 3-month supplies. You can cancel anytime.

Can I take varenicline with my other medications?

Tell your provider about all the medicines, supplements, and nicotine products you use, including patches, gum, or other quit aids. Your provider reviews them before prescribing, and some doses may need adjusting when you stop smoking. Don’t add another quit medicine without checking with your provider first.

Is this the same as Chantix®?

Chantix® is a brand name for varenicline. We prescribe generic varenicline, which has the same active ingredient. Varenicline is a generic prescription medicine dispensed by a licensed US pharmacy.
